Essbase 21: Error When Creating Datasource From SQL Server JDBC Connection "Failed To Connect To Actual Datasource" (Doc ID 2937953.1)

Symptoms

Connection was created from Essbase to MS SQL Server with the JDBC driver com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver, which tests Successful.  However, when attempting to create a Data Source, it fails with error:

 Failed to connect to actual datasource using information of connection '<name of datasource>'.
