Connecting to Oracle EBS 11.5.10 with Discoverer 4i/10g Fails with ORA-01017 Invalid Username/Password Error (Doc ID 295037.1)

You are trying to connect with Discoverer 4.1 / 9.0.4 Administration/Desktop Edition or Discoverer 4.1 / 9.0.4 
Plus/Viewer Edition using an Oracle Application username/password but encounter the following error:

"Failed to connect to database - ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied"

The checkbox, "Oracle Application user" is checked at the login window.

The userid and password are valid as the same user can successfully connect to Oracle Applications.

The Discoverer 4.1 one-off securtiy <Patch 2112426> and the latest 4.1.48 patch have been applied, but the problem still exists.

For Discoverer 10gR1, you are on Discoverer

When generating a SQL*Net Trace for the failed connection attempt, an error is displayed:

"APP-FND-01542: This Applications Server is not authorized to access this database."
