Last updated on AUGUST 08, 2016

Applies to:

Hyperion Financial Management - Version 3.5.1.0.00 to 11.1.1.3.00 [Release 3.5 to 11.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Sometimes a popup javascript error "Invalid Javascript returned by the server" may appear when an end user is opening or moving around in Web Data Entry Forms or Data Grids in Financial Management (HFM) application.

This most often occurs when the grid or web form is set display not just the labels of the metadata items in rows and columns, but also their descriptions. The error message usually appears when expanding the entity hierarchy, or when expanding the ICP dimension (since the ICP dimension is made dynamically from those entities which have IsICP enabled in their metadata properties). However, it may also be seen in any dimension which accepts descriptions such as Scenario, Account or Custom 1-4 dimensions.
