However in general a script would have roughly the following structure:

BEGIN-PROGRAM
BEGIN-SELECT -DB'DSN=ora10;UID=scott;PWD=tiger'
surname &surname
do writing
from mytable
END-SELECT
END-PROGRAM

BEGIN-PROCEDURE writing
BEGIN-SQL -db'DSN=sqlserver;UID=sa;PWD=password'
insert into newtable (surname) values (&surname);
commit;
END-SQL
END-PROCEDURE

Note that this versatility is only available in the ODBC version of SQR/Production Reporting
