Hyperion web applications deployed on Oracle Application Server (OAS) cannot be shut down cleanly by Oracle Process Management Notification (OPMN). OPMN is built into OAS and handles the startup and shutdown of applications.

When trying to shut down a Hyperion web application the following error message is generated in the OPMN log and the shutdown procedure may time out:

Jun 2, 2009 3:26:09 PM oracle.j2ee.rmi.RMIMessages EXCEPTION_ORIGINATES_FROM_THE_REMOTE_SERVER WARNING: Exception returned by remote server: {0}
javax.naming.NoPermissionException: Not allowed to look up java:comp/ServerAdministrator, check the namespace-access tag setting in orion-application.xml for details

This issue affects versions 11.1.1.x of the Hyperion EPM products. Later versions no longer support Oracle Application Server.
