Financial Reporting Studio does not correctly show Japanese aliases in Member Selection for an Essbase data source. The aliases show as "??".

  1. Create an Essbase database in Unicode mode.

  2. Create an outline in the database and add some children.

  3. Type some double-byte characters into the default alias table for each member.

  4. Save the outline.

  5. Log into Financial Reporting Studio as an administrator.

  6. Create a New Database Connection with "Essbase" as the connection type with the new database as the data source.

  7. Do Member Selection.  All double-byte aliases will show as "??".

You will see the same behavior when you do member selection in Workspace.

The problem occurs only with an Essbase database connection in Unicode mode.  You will not see it with non-Unicode databases, or with a Planning Details database connection.
