Usernames With Accented Characters Are Imported With Faulty Characters Into Shared Services Using CSSImport (Doc ID 959292.1)

Last updated on MARCH 08, 2017

Applies to:

Hyperion BI+ - Version: and later   [Release: 11.1 and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Hyperion Shared Services repository is correctly encoded: If using SQL Server the Shared Services repository database will automatically be in Unicode. If using Oracle database, a run of SELECT * FROM NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS should contain NLS_CHARACTERSET=AL32UTF8 or (somewhat less preferably) UTF8. Oracle's UTF8 is noncompliant with the Unicode transformation standard (only exposing the first plane of Unicode).

Non-ASCII characters are not transferring from one environment to another when using CSSImportExport tools.

Problem is that upper ASCII characters are not saved in Unicode (UTF8 transformation format).
