Purpose

Overview

A manufacturing work order parts list is a catalog or listing of the items required to manufacture a subassembly, end item or finished good, based on the quantity required by a work order. The quantities on a work order parts list originally derive from the bill of material (BOM) for the item on the work order header.

A required quantity is listed for each component on a work order parts list. This quantity represents the quantity of the component required to complete the work order quantity in a specific unit of measure.
The parts list (P3111) contains four fields associated with quantity:

Order Quantity (UORG) Units - Order/Transaction Quantity - the quantity of units affected.

Issued Quantity (TRQT) - also called Quantity Available, a value that represents the available quantity, which might consist of the on-hand balance minus commitments, reservations and backorders.

Secondary Quantity Ordered and Secondary Quantity Issued - the number of units, expressed in the secondary unit of measure, that is ordered and that the system has recorded as completed or issues. This value can represent either the quantity completed for co-by-products or the quantity issued for a component. Complete the Secondary Quantity Completed field if the item being completed is set up with dual units of measure in the Item Master (P4101).

The Parts List file (F3111) contains additional quantity fields:

Quantity Canceled/Scrapped (SOCN) - the number of units canceled in Sales Order or Work Order Processing, using either the entered or the primary unit of measure defined for the item. In manufacturing, this can also be the number of units scrapped to date.

Quantity Committed (QNTA) - the quantity of an item that is committed on a parts list. This value is populated when issues are made to the WO.

Quantity Backordered (SOBK) - the number of units backordered in Sales Order Management or in Work Order Processing, using either the entered or the primary unit of measure defined for this item.

This document explains the purpose of the quantity fields in manufacturing work order parts lists and describes how they are populated.
