E1: INST: Unnecessary Log Files (naming format "\\jas_*" and "\\jderoot_*") Created in Installation Directory (Doc ID 1174663.1)

Last updated on MAY 30, 2017

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 8.98 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0 application release level.  New log files are getting created on the iSeries IFS with naming format "\\jas_*" and "\\jderoot_*".
You don't have any JAS Server\Instance running on the iSeries.

This naming convention (beginning with \\) is creating two issues:
1.) These files can not be deleted via any interface except an FTP session on a windows workstation.
2.) Services cause a lock on the current log file which prevents it from inclusion in a backup.
These files can not be identified as being excluded from the backup unless the entire IFS is excluded, which is not acceptable. Ending all EnterpriseOne services during the backup is also not acceptable.
How to disable the log file creation?
