Purpose
This document explains the Production Cost Inquiry (P31022) based on the F3102. The Variance File (F3102) tracks variances by work order and provides information from a costing and cost variance perspective. The F3102 is the source for variance journal entries (R31804).
This document explains how each named variance is created and calculated.
Overview
The Production Cost Inquiry program (P31022) displays the costs and variances that are associated with manufacturing work orders or rate schedules. It was not designed to work with other modules, like Capital Asset Mgmt (P48211), or Service Mgmt (P17714), but those programs associated with Manufacturing only.
Note: If using Cost by Work Center
1. Activate the Cost by Work Center option in the Manufacturing Constants program (P3009)
2. Define cost components by work center
P31022 will display the cost information by work center and subtotals by cost components for the work centers in which they occur.
You can review variances by comparing amounts that the system calculated in one mode to amounts that the system calculated in another mode. Modes include: Standard, Current, Planned, Actual, Completed and Scrapped
Scope
Users who need to track work order costs, work in progress, and variances can use this inquiry.
