Purpose

Overview

Flexible accounting can be used with the Manufacturing, Cost Accounting, Distribution and Financial applications of EnterpriseOne, and is a part of System 16, Advanced Cost Accounting. Flexible Accounting can be used with the Frozen Cost Update (R30835), Manufacturing Accounting (R31802 XE to 8.0 / R31802A 8.9 and above), Variances (R31804), Lean / Orderless Manufacturing Accounting (RF31200), and Lean Variance Accounting (RF31210).

Setting up the account structure is a business decision that is made during the implementation and planning stage. The cost/benefit analysis should be made at that time. Though it is possible to change the accounting process from standard accounting to Flexible accounting in mid-stream (or vice versa), this is not a process that is easily accomplished.

Flex Accounting is a means of dynamically populating the Account Ledger Table (F0911) segments of an account number (Business Unit, Object Account*, Subsidiary). The Subledger, Item Number, and Cost Objects can also be populated in the F0911 Account Ledger to better define an account number for reporting purposes.

** Of these segments, all but the Object Account can be flexed. The Object Account will always be pulled from the AAI table.

** Subledgers are not visible online, but are stored in the Account Ledger Table, F0911.

Note that the Business Unit and Subsidiary must be blank in the AAI table to use flex accounting.

The following information details the required setup for Flexible Accounting to function correctly. This document is additional to the JDE Advanced Cost Accounting Guide.  Here we focus on Flexible Accounting for Manufacturing (MFG Accounting, Product Costing, and Lean / Orderless MFG processes).

Scope

This document is intended for users that have the need to use Flex Accounting within Manufacturing Accounting, Product Costing, and Lean / Orderless MFG to better define manufacturing accounts and journal entries. A basic understanding of E1 Shop Floor Control (SFC), Product Data Management (PDM), and Product Costing is required.
