E1: SVM: Recommended Windows User Permissions to Install or Update Server Manager Agent On Unix/Linux platform - Tools Release 9.1 onwards (Doc ID 1481888.1)

Last updated on MAY 30, 2017

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 9.1 and later
Generic UNIX

Goal

Installation or Update of Server Manager Agent on Linux/Unix platform.
From Tool Release 9.1 onwards, Server Manager installer now uses the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI).

When installing the server manager agent as jde900 user (as recommended since this is user which owns the JDEdwards directories), it attempts to update the Oracle Inventory but doesn't have permission to do this (as the Inventory is owned by user "Oracle" and group "Oinstall"). This is because the Server Manager install now uses OUI.

What is the recommendation to perform this task?
