E1: JAS: Random "exception in processEvent java.lang.NullPointerException" Errors When Running Any E1 Application

Information in this document applies to any platform.
When running any application on an HTML/Web client for users running with Tools Release 18.104.22.168+, users may get a pop-up error message:
An exception has been caught by the Web client. Please contact your system administrator. See log for details. Exception id =Exception_yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.xxx_USERNAME
The e1root_xxx.log will show the following:
26 Mar 2012 01:48:34,342 [SEVERE] TXIE1 - [RUNTIME] An exception has been caught by the Web client. Please contact your system administrator. See log for details. Exception id =Exception_yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss.xxx_USERNAME java.lang.NullPointerException
Users have to click the OK button to continue working with the application. Although it does not stop operations from completing, having to close the error dialog box to continue with work can be disruptive if the issue is faced many times over the course of a day.
