Symptoms
E1Root logs are no longer being created for any instance running on Oracle Weblogic Server 11g 10.3.5.0, Unix based systems (i.e. IBM AIX on POWER Systems 64-bit).
Node Manager and Weblogic Admin Console are started using the 'root' user to allow privileged ports. (ports < 1024). The SM Agent is started using 'oracle' user otherwise it will not start up the E1 HTML Servers.
The WLS_SERVERNAME.OUT file showed the following error:
