E1: XMLP: Creating Native Excel Outputs from RTF Templates (Doc ID 1519530.1)

Last updated on JULY 24, 2019

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 9.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

  1. Create a supported and recognized Microsoft Excel output via JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and the embedded XML when using an RTF template that MS Office Excel can open.
  2. Eliminate popup message "The file and extension of 'xxx.xls' don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust the source, don't open it. Do you want to open it anyway?

Test Case:

Developer created an RTF template and previewed it in BI Publisher Desktop. There are two preview options, one is "Excel" and the other is "Excel 2000". When previewing in the "Excel" (.xlsx) format, the output looks correct. But when previewing in the "Excel 2000" (.xls) format, some formatting is lost in the final output.

The issue is that when the developer runs the same template through Embedded BI Publisher for EnterpriseOne tools release 9.1, the output produced is the same as the "Excel 2000" in BI Publisher Desktop.

Is there a way to tell EnterpriseOne to create an output in the same format as the "Excel (.xlsx) option in BI Publisher desktop?
