When a location transfer is recorded using a selected future location record for an earlier (system) date, the (P) record is written as History (H) record, with no end date.
There is no obvious workaround to this issue. Once the H record with no end date is created, there is no obvious way to correct the location history record, as the record cannot be edited or deleted.
Client expects that the system will prevent a location transfer of a future dated (P) Location record as well as a transfer of a History (H) Location Record. If the transfer is not performed, then the corrupted H record will not be created. The user will then need to delete the (P) record and enter a correctly dated transfer record.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Add or copy an asset record using a location date.
2. Create a location transfer to a future date and a P record is created.
3. Select the P record to create a location transfer using the current date.
4. The P record is converted into an H record but there is no ending date. A new C record is created. This is incorrect. Note: The H record (with no ending date) cannot be deleted.
