Symptoms

Cannot save manually created correspondence due to the error: An error has occurred in the grid on a hidden column (that is, a column that you cannot view). Please contact your system administrator.
M not found in User Defined Code 74R C2.

There is no problem with the set up as the correspondence can be created by running R74R9801.
