Purpose

Many clients use the Fulfillment Management System in conjunction with the Transportation Management System.

The Transportation system assigns shipment numbers to order lines at sales order entry. When Auto Fulfillment does not allocate inventory, unreleased sales order lines remain on the same shipment number as released sales order lines.

When this occurs, the system does not allow shipments to be approved until all lines have been released from fulfillment. This could result in unnecessary delays to shipments, or result in extra work for users who must delete unfulfilled order lines from shipments manually using the Shipment (P4915) program. This is a simple task if there are only a small number of order lines on the shipment, but it can be a real headache if the shipment contains hundreds of lines because the user must search through the order lines to find which ones are unfulfilled and need to be deleted from the shipment.

In order to not hold up shipments, and to avoid searching through shipments manually to delete lines that are unfulfilled and not shippable, two new enhancements have been implemented as follows:

These enhancements introduce a new processing option in the in the Release from Fulfillment (R4277703) program along with a new Remove Unreleased Lines from Shipments (R4277707) program. This document is to illustrate the new functionality and how it resolves this problem for clients using the Fulfillment Management System in conjunction with the Transportation Management System.
