Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When changing the Inventory Item Number in the Equipment Master (P1702) from an Inventory Item that has the Item Branch Plant (P4102) Service and Warranty Tab Product Model and Product Family Information populated to an Inventory Item that does not have the Branch Plant (P4102) Service and Warranty Tab Product Model and Product Family Information populated, the P1702 Equipment Master Product Model and Product Family Information blanks out.
Note: when an Inventory Item is created in the Item Master and  Item Branch Plant, and the Service and Warranty Tab Product Model and Product Family Information is populated in the Service and Warranty Tab, the Product Model and Product Family Information is held in the F4117/ F41171 respectively.  It has been found that if an Inventrry Item does not have a F4117/ F41171 record i.e. the Service and Warranty Tab information is not populated, using such an inventory item in the P1702 Equipment master will result in the original / current Product Model Product Family being blanked out.

Currently this is because the system makes a check to the F4117 Item Master Service/Warranty Extension and F41171 Item Branch Master Service/Warranty Extension files and if Blank Returns Blank.
