E1: WRKFLW: Custom Workflow Stays at Awaiting Status and Fails to Send Messages

Symptoms
A custom Workflow is designed to send email messages . After modification to the workflow and promoting the changes to production environment , it is observed that workflow does not complete successfully . When inquired in Process Task Monitor application P98860 , the status of the workflow remains "Awaiting". Recipient does not receive any message.
Workflow Kernel logs will show below error messages:
