Goal

When the IRS AIR system returns an original Form Data File XML and Manifest XML with a Rejected status, you will either resubmit a new original transmission or a replacement transmission. Which one you do depends on whether the IRS has also returned a Receipt ID to you.
• No Receipt ID returned: create and resubmit a new original transmission (also called a resubmission)
• Receipt ID returned: create and submit a replacement transmission
