E1: 49: Freight Update (R4981) in Transportation (Doc ID 2213279.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 17, 2023

The main purpose of the Transportation module is to allow customers to accurately calculate shipment costs and to be able to pay for those costs to a specific supplier (carrier). In that sense, this document will cover the fundamentals on how the shipment costs are processed and converted into payable and billable charges.

Transportation shipments can be created as Outbound (sales) or Inbound (purchasing). These shipments will be routed, which will select a specific carrier and Mode of Transport (MOT) and store charges associated with that specific route for that shipment (F4945). The shipment will then be approved and confirmed. Freight Update (R4981) will be run over the shipments which will, based on settings, update the billable charges that should be passed on to customers (F4211), update charges that should be paid to the carrier (F0911/F0411) and store this related information in the Freight Audit History File (F4981).
