E1: ENV: How to Create a Custom Environment Using the Environment Director (P989400) or the Installation Plan or Add a Standard Environment Using Deployment and Enterprise Server Installers (Doc ID 2216807.1)

Last updated on APRIL 08, 2023

This document provides details on how to add or create a custom environment/pathcode and some known issues reported with custom environments.

There are different business reasons as to why a customer will require a custom environment/pathcode. One common reason provided is that the customer has a need for a custom environment specific to each of their sites/locations. This type of requirement would be difficult to achieve with the standard environments that are provided, therefore, creating custom environments is a better option.

To create a custom environment, beginning with EnterpriseOne Release 9.0 and later, use the Environment Director Application (P989400). For releases prior to EnterpriseOne 9.0, a custom environment can be added through the Installation Plan.

The Environment Director is available beginning with EnterpriseOne Release 9.0 and is recommended when creating a new environment. The Environment Director application (P989400) brings all of the steps necessary to create an environment together in one place. It enables the user to copy an existing environment, share or copy an existing path code, set up data sources, create client and server map Object Configuration Manager (OCM) mappings, and copy data from an existing environment. This application works in the same manner as a wizard. You fill in the necessary data and then click Next.

When you want to create a new environment based on an existing environment, you can copy the control tables, business data, central objects, tested full package, and related records from the existing environment to the new environment using Oracle's JD Edwards Environment Director. The copy environment process is run on the Deployment Server.

Prior to EnterpriseOne 9.0, it is always recommended to use the Installation Plan for the creation of Custom Environment. See the tab Creating an Environment using the Installation Plan for more details.

This document includes information on the following:

  • Environment Director
  • Adding a standard environment to the existing setup
  • Known issues with Environment Director
  • Create an environment using the Installation Plan
