Last updated on AUGUST 21, 2019

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 9.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

This document is specific to AS\400, IBM, iSeries.  If experiencing the same issues with Windows or Linux see Document E1: INST: Server Manager Console and Agent Issues with Java 1.8 Update 171 or higher (Doc ID 2410783.1)

Starting with IBM Java 8.0.4.1 (IBM SDK Java Technology Edition Version 8.0 for Installation Manager Install), the support for 3DES_EDE_CBC Algorithm is disabled out of the box. This is being used by Server Manager and without the below change Server Manager Console will not be able to connect to Server Manager Agents and Managed Instances.

This has also been seen with other Java versions that have been updated by IBM Java security updates.

NOTE:  The information below also applies to WebSphere Managed Instances (installed on supported platforms such as Windows, AIX, Linux, Solaris, AS/400) and platforms that also run with IBM Java where EnterpriseOne Web Components (HTML Server, AIS Server, RTE Server etc) are installed.
The below also applies to Enterprise Server running on platforms in which it uses IBM’s Java for EnterpriseOne Java Kernel processes (XMLp Kernel, Management Kernel etc), platforms include AIX, AS/400.

The IBM java.security file is located at $jre/lib/security/java.security file (i.e. /QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/JavaVM/jdk80/32bit/jre/lib/security/java.security).  This is the line where it's being disabled, note the 3DES_EDE_CBC highlighted in green:
