Request to update wording on W4 form and ESS message box:
The first and most important is the message regarding the Exemption Status. JDE message states a hardcopy 'must' be sent to IRS however per the IRS publication 505, they have change this and it now states that the employer 'may' be required to send a copy of the Form W4 to the IRS. Instead of the JDE message box saying that a hardcopy 'must' be sent to the IRS, the request is to change the wording to indicate that it 'may' be required.
Secondly, on the W4 changes the program requires all three boxes be checked or the form errors, however, there is no message stating that the employee must choose all three boxes to be exempt. It would be nice to have either something directing the employee on how to complete section #7 and that all must be checked if requesting exemption status.
