E1: 49: Carrier Preference Should Consider Lead or Transit Days on Route (Doc ID 2449863.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 07, 2019

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Transportation Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Currently when the carrier preference is resolved it will populate the preferred carrier in F4215 regardless of whether there is a route for that carrier or whether the route has any lead/transit days and meets the requested date of the order.
The customer requires for the carrier preference to evaluate the routes that exist for the particular carrier based on lead/transit days and pick the carrier based on the suitability of the route, i.e. based on the fact that the route will meet the requested date.

For example customer is using MRP to generate sales order and the only distinguishing factor between orders is the requested date. There is no manual intervention in the order process.
If the requested date is an earlier date the preference should pick a carrier / route for air freight with less transit days and if the requested date is at a later date then the preference should pick a route / carrier for transport by sea with more transit days.
So the carrier preference should carry out part of the routing process as well.
