Symptoms

On a Windows 2016 or Windows 2012 R2 Deployment Server the following issues are sometimes encountered:

When trying to run an Installation or Upgrade plan in the Installation Workbench application or when trying to apply a Software Update using the Software Updates application the screen becomes distorted and it will eventually freeze on one of the workbench screens (machine workbench, TC workbench, package workbench etc.).  Dump files may be found under the \E920\system\bin32 folder and the following may be seen in the jde.log:

 

Changes

 The Workbenches are currently architected to call the next Workbench and stay active, resulting in a stack of up to 11 forms. A system limit in Windows 2012 R2 and 2016 is being violated.
