E1: OCI: Linux 7.5 and Windows 2016 Operating Systems No Longer Available For JD Edwards Infrastructure Provisioning 2.0 for Linux x86-64 (Doc ID 2504133.1)

Last updated on MAY 03, 2023

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Note: This does not apply to the latest 9.2.5.3 (April 21, 2021) version of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Reference Architecture. This version uses Linux 8 and Windows 2019.

The "JD Edwards Infrastructure Provisioning 2.0 for Linux x86-64" of JDE reference architecture version is certified with Linux 7.5 OS on OCI, but recently OCI has removed support of provisioning of VM with Linux 7.5 OS image.  Similarly, the currently available Windows 2016 image in OCI is not compatible with JDE Infrastructure Provisioning.

As a result of this, customers who will take GA release "JD Edwards Infrastructure Provisioning 2.0 for Linux x86-64" to provision infrastructure on OCI using terraform scripts will experience provisioning failure with the below error because terraform scripts will fail to lookup Linux 7.5 OS image or the proper Windows 2016 image.

Error in provisioning log for the Linux image:

list "data.oci_core_images.InstanceImageOCID.images" does not have any elements so cannot determine type. in: ${lookup(data.oci_core_images.InstanceImageOCID.images[0], "id")}

Error in provisioning log for the Windows image:

1 error(s) occurred:

 * module.create_depsvr.oci_core_instance.jdeapp: 1 error(s) occurred:

 * oci_core_instance.jdeapp: Service error:InvalidParameter. Shape VM.Standard2.2 is not valid for image ocid1.image.oc1.phx.aaaaaaaalfkgwtshgkidfxsxkydhunyjwcfjs3ls3uq2ukxytrthj6i2xuwq.. http status code: 400.
