E1: 47: Brief Message Field (F01131M.MSGP) Is Blank For UOM Invalid Error (0298) (Doc ID 2531831.1)

Symptoms

EDI Inbound Purchase Order Edit/Create (R47011)

When a Unit of Measure is Invalid (0298) error is processed during EDI Inbound Purchase Order Edit/Create (R47011) the JDEM Multi Level Message Brief Message field (F01131M.MSGP) is not populated. As a consequence of this the client's custom report EDI Inbound Purchase Order Edit/Create (R5547011C) is unable to display the error description on the PDF reviewed by users.

The user is not able to see the error in the Custom Report PDF and is forced to go to the Work Center to view the error brief description and details which is used to resolve the error. Since the report is run on the scheduler and the user's id is different that the scheduler user id, the user does not have access to the work center messages from scheduled jobs.

Steps to duplicate

  1. Go into the Data Dictionary for the Error Messages. Enter 0298 in the Data Item field and click Find.
    1. The description field DSCA says “Unit of Measure Invalid for Item &1”.
    2. The form does not include the “Brief Message field (MSGP)”
  2. Item does not include a unit of measure conversion for the Unit of Measure to be used as the transaction unit of measure on the order..
  3. Using Inbound EDI Order Revisions (P47010) populate EDI input data (F4701 and F47012) for an order for a quantity with a transaction unit of measure for which a conversion does not exist for the item
  4. Run Custom EDI Inbound Purchase Order Edit/Create (R5547011C)
  5. PDF shows Line Contains an Error, but does not display the brief error message which is used by the user to resolve the error, because the custom report is designed to pull the information from the JDEM Multi Level Message Brief Message field (F01131M.MSGP).
  6. Work Center displays the full description of the error from the glossary.
  7. Go to Databrowser and check the JDEM Multi Level Message (F01131M) file for the Error ID 0298. Notice that the Brief Message field (MSGP) is blank.

Check the Debug Logs. On the SQL INSERT into the F01131M, the third field MSGP is Blank.

Issue occurs in all environments including the production environment.

The client expects JDEM Multi Level Message Brief Message field (F01131M.MSGP) to be populated so that the brief message can be displayed on the Report PDF for the user.
