E1: DB: E1Local Database TNS Listener Error - TNS-12560: "Unable to connect to E1Local" (Doc ID 2537097.1)

Symptoms


Unable to sign into fat client workstations after VirtualBox software was installed.

Client receives the following error popup on their screen:

"Unable to connect to E1Local".



JDE.log gives the following:


OCI0000374 - Failed to connect to the database instance
OCI0000375 - Error - ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
OCI0000064 - Unable to create database server connection
OCI0000367 - Unable to connect to Oracle ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
JDB9900164 - Failed to connect to E1Local



The following error shows up in the output from "lsnrctl status":

Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=SERVERNAME.XXXX.XXXX)(PORT=1521)))
TNS-12535: TNS:operation timed out
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00505: Operation timed out
64-bit Windows Error: 60: Unknown error
