Last updated on AUGUST 17, 2022

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In a mulit-BOM the lower level qtys are not extended out by the required quantity of the upper level. For example if the lower level sub assembly component require 2 of each to make 1 of its sub assembly parent and sub assembly parent needs 2 to make the upper level parent then the multi-level BOM inquiry should show 4 ea of each of both the lower level components instead of 2.

Steps

  1. Create a manufactured item parent
  2. Create a sub assembly manufactured item
  3. Create two purchased parts
  4. Add a bill of material for the sub assembly with the two purchased parts from step #3. Make quantity per 2 ea for both purchased parts
  5. Add a bill of material for the parent from step #1 with the sub assembly from step #2. Make the quantity per 2 ea
  6. Go to menu G3011 for multi-level bill inquiry P30200
  7. Inquire on the parent item from step #1 for a quantity of 1
  8. The components of the sub assembly should display a quantity of 4 but instead they display a quantity of 2 which is incorrect
