E1:90CB Opportunity Cannot Enter Only a Product Catalog in the Grid. Get Error on Item Number Field (Doc ID 2570921.1)

Symptoms

When an initial Opportunity is entered, would like to only enter Product Catalogs; however, the Item Number field is required. According to all documentation, Item Number field is not required. You can enter either a Product Catalog or an Item Number.

In the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications Customer Relationship Management Fundamentals Implementation Guide under the section openManaging Items and Item Catalogs for CRM in 5.4.1.2 Selection Modes, it states the following:
On the Opportunity - Manage {Opportunity Name} form, select the Detail tab and then click the visual assist next to the Product Catalog or Item Number fields. Single select mode Select items or catalogs.

To Duplicate the Issue:


1. Open the Opportunity application
2. Enter required information and select save and continue
3. On the next screen, enter only a product catalog and no item
4. When exiting it errors on the item field. The line it should not error on the item field.
