E1: FDA: RDA: BSFN: ER Debugger Watched Variables Show Strange / Garbage Characters Instead of 'Unknown' (Doc ID 2606321.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 07, 2020

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After upgrading the tools release to 9.2.2.X or higher version, when trying to debug any application, report or a business function in Event Rules(ER) Debugger, the watched variables value appears as strange / garbage characters if the value is 'Unknown'.  This unknown state of variable can be correctly seen when using older tools release such as 9.2.1.4
For example, if we open an application in ER debugger and add few FC and GC Variables to watch pane, we will notice strange characters as shown below :

These strange characters are not observed in older tools releases and value of variables correctly appear as UNKNOWN if the variables are not initialized

Please note that during the debugging process all actual values appear correctly and this issue is observed only during the start of debugging process before any variable is initialized .
