E1: 46L: Requirement to Move Entire Parent License Plate when Only Child LPN is Requested (Doc ID 2623647.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 24, 2019

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Warehouse Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

With current Parent-Child License Plate functionality the system will create a suggestion only for the quantity that is requested. It will suggest the requested quantity and if that is less than the full quantity of the parent LPN then only the child LPN and/or loose quantity will be moved. The parent LPN remains in the original location with the remaining child LPN.
While this works fine for warehouses, where single items are stored in a rack and can be picked individually, this does not work for customers that handle bulk/liquid items stored in drums or canisters (child LPN) which again are stored on palettes (parent LPN). In those situations the pallet could be at the top shelf of a rack and so the only way to pick a particular drum is to use a forklift truck and to move the entire pallet to the WIP location where the drum(s) are removed and taking to production. Then the pallet with the remaining drums is returned to te warehouse, but it will almost certainly not go back to the same location it came from. Therefore, moving full pallets each time is the only option.
The request is to provide an option where when a partial quantity of a parent LPN is requested that the entire parent LPN is picked and suggested.
