Currently the AIS instance for orchestrations does not have a setting to enable/disable gzip/deflate compression similar to the HTML/JAS instances.

Some of the data service orchestrations with 1,000's of rows can become quite large and the ability to enable http compression from the web application could provide a noticeable performance improvement.

You could manually edit the AIS instance web.xml for the compression statements, but that would not be ideal. It would help content-types such as application/JSON and XML for example in many situations.

Large orchestrations over 1,000 rows and many columns are MB's in size. http compression could help reduce the transfer times in many situations.
