Symptoms

R3483 MRP generates excess D, L , G, E & O messages resulting in excess Ending Availability (EA) when forecast quantities are changed for items setup with lot for lot order policy code and minimum order quantity.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. P4101/P41026 - setup up a manufactured item with lot for lot order policy and minimum order quantity
  2. P3460 - Create forecast records for several weeks into the future
  3. R3483 - Run MRP
  4. R3411 - Process MRP messages to create work orders
  5. Observe forecast demand and work order supply quantities balance out
  6. P3460 - Change forecast quantities for some of the records
  7. R3483 - Run MRP
  8. Observe MRP suggests multiple D-Defer messages
  9. R3411 - Process MRP messages to create MRP messages
  10. Observe forecast demand and work order supply quantities do not balance out
