For many years it has been requested that the Fixed Asset Disposals programs (P12105 and R12104) not allow an asset to be disposed of more than once. This request was made not only by the JDE User Group but also during an Oracle Open World Conference. Therefore, it was decided by Product Strategy and Developement to program the Single Asset Disposal Program (P12105) to automatically post to General Accounting and also to the Fixed Asset without manual intervention. The Mass Asset Disposal Program (R12104) has NOT been changed.
Without this correction users would dispose of assets twice, three times, they would create entries and not post them to GA and FA or would just post to GA and then run depreciation again and then post the disposal entries, leaving amounts on the assets that weren't moved to the gain or loss account requiring additional research to correct.
There isn't anyway now that it has been changed to not automatic post the entries to General Accounting and Fixed Assets except to use the R12104 that allows the process to run in three steps. (Dispose, Review, Post to GA, Post to FA) This program has not been changed. Mass Asset Disposal (R1205) will need to be used if the entries need to be reviewed, and posted manually to the General Accounting and Fixed Asset systems. Data Selection can be used on the R12104 to run the program on a single asset or multiple assets.
Try using the R09301-General Journal by Batch Report to display what was created in the disposal process if a report is needed after running the P12105.
There isn't going to be a correction to the R12104 as it is going to be handled thru the PO being setup correctly on the R12104 and R09801. On the versions tab of the R12104 that is being used the Versions Tab-General Ledger Post Version (R09801) needs to be set to ZJDE0029. This will post it automatically to the General Accounting System.
The R09801/ZJDE0029 needs to be set to have the Fixed Asset Post Version:
Versions Tab-2. Fixed Asset Post Version (R12800) set to a ZJDE0005. This will post it automatically to the Fixed Asset System.
It was decided that the functionality already exist to not allow duplicate disposals as long as the processing options are setup correctly. Changing it would cause issues with customer who currently like the way it is designed.
When both of the processing options on the R12104 and R09801 are set correctly the system will post the entries to both the General Accounting and Fixed Assets without intervention and will eliminate duplicate disposals.
