Symptoms

W-2 Pennsylvania M & N Records Not Combining Correctly.

PA local taxes are not combining correctly.  Employee had the Tax Area (Work) code change at some point in the year, so they have 2 M records and 2 N records.  This is correct.  However, instead of combining corresponding M and N records, it is combining the M records on one W2 and the N records on a second W2.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Generated tax history for October with Tax Area (Residence) 390134977, Tax Area (Work) 390610207, and School Code 7800
2. Changed Tax Area (Work) To 390113975
3. Generated tax history for November with Tax Area (Residence) 390134977, Tax Area (Work) 390113975, and School Code 7800
4. Ran Year End ID: L122120, got two W2 Control Numbers.
The State/Local Tab shows the corresponding tax type M and N combined in the same W-2, two lines for each record.
