E1: 07: R078500 941 Detail Wage List Report Displaying Incorrect Line 5a Taxable Gross Amount (Doc ID 2771772.1)

Last updated on APRIL 09, 2023

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne US Payroll - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After applying ESU JN18864 to get the 1st quarter 2021 update for the 941 reports (R078500), line 5a is wrong. Currently, line 5a taxable gross does not include excess wages. For this reason, if you have highly compensated employees who have already reached the FICA limit thus have excess wages, your line 5a is overstated due to this reason.

Steps:

1.Process payroll through Final Update from the Payroll Workbench P07210 to give a $300,000 bonus in the quarter to an employee who had no other pay in 2021.
2.Tax history, F06136, shows the following: The gross pay was $300,000 but $157,200 of that is In Excess because it exceeds the social security wage limit of $142,800.
3.Run R078500 941 Detail Wage List 1 for that employee.
4.Notice that the Detail Wage List 941 shows $300,000 for the Social Security Wages for the employee and for the totals. It should just show the taxable wages which would be $142,800.
5.Notice that line 5a on R078500 shows $300,000 for the taxable social security wages.  It should show $142,800 because $157,200 of the wages were in excess of the wage limit.
