Symptoms

The tools release of the system has been upgraded to 9.2.4.x or 9.2.5.x or 9.2.6.x. In these tools releases , the version of embedded BI Publisher in the enterprise server is 12.2.1.4.0 as per document E1: XMLP: BI Publisher (BIP) Supported Desktop Versions, Microsoft Word Versions and Required Table OCMs (Doc ID 2198754.1)

The BI Publisher Desktop 12.2.1.4.0 has a provision to implement QR Code as per document QR Code Support For BI Publisher (Doc ID 2455492.1).

A RD (Report Definition) template was designed to implement QR Code and tested successfully in BI Publisher Desktop 12.2.1.4.0.

When attempting to implement same template through RD report on enterprise server, RD  Job ends in FX Status (XML Publishing Error). When the xdo log is captured for this specific report as described in Doc ID 651589.1, the following error is captured:

Steps to replicate

  1. Design a RD template with QR Code using BI Publisher Desktop 12.2.1.4.0. Review 2D Barcode Functions for the function syntax.
  2. Test the template locally using BIP Template Viewer per steps in document QR Code Syntax Not Working in BI Publisher Desktop Tool (Doc ID 2664268.1).
  3. Use the same template and configure XMLP report per steps in Doc ID 1301758.1.
  4. Submit the report to server and test the results.
