E1: 13: P13CCA Performance Issue: Category Code Search Takes More Than a Minute (Doc ID 2794020.1)

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Capital Asset Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On P13700 (Equipment Workbench), select the Form Exit Category Code Summary and enter a Category Code (W0-W9) and press find.   The results take more than a minute to return.

Steps to Duplicate:

1. 9.2, Navigate to menu G1316, select the Planning Workbench (P13700)
2. Press find using some criteria (e.g. Equipment Number), and records are returned to the grid of P13700.
3. Take the Form Exit to Category Code Analysis (P13CCA / ZJDE0001).
4. On P13CCA, enter a Category Code (e.g. W0-W9) and press find. Results take more than one minute to return.

Currently by design this process does the following:

1. Checks the UDC (F0005 table) for example, for the Product Code 00, User Defined Code W1 ( 00 | W1 ), for how many codes there are in this table.
2. Then the process checks the F4801 for each of these code against the F4801.WR01 (for example, if W1 is used) to determine how many of each codes were returned from step 1 (from the 00 | W1 codes)
3. The number of records returned from the F4801 table in step 2 are then reported on the P13CCA grid, and the costs are accumulated and reported as well.

For example, the P13CCA needs to loop through every F0005 UDC code for WR | 02, and then find how many F4801 record each of these codes has, and then accumulate the costs for these F4801 records to report on the P13CCA grid.

Development states that it is acceptable performance if these records are processing at a rate of under 10 milliseconds each.

When there are so many records that are needed to be looped through, the less than 10 millisecond per transaction accumulated to over a minute of time based on how many records that were needed to be processed.

Development stated that in order to improve performance on this process there would need to be a rewrite of the current code functionality, which is this Enhancement 33075324 requests to perhaps rewrite the functionality with some type of single query if possible to improve P13CCA performance.
