When performing Pick Confirmation for an item that is on a License Plate, the system is designed to remove this quantity from the license plate making those quantities 'Loose' quantities. This enhancement request is for a processing option, etc. that will allow a user to control if the item quantity is to be removed from the License Plate or not at time of P4617 - Pick Confirmation.
The normal process works fine for typical warehousing operations where the warehouse contains multiple units of a product in various locations and picking involves selecting only the required number of units from a location. But for businesses that do not operate like this, a lot of customization is needed to make the warehouse systems operate in the manner needed.
For example, in a warehouse that holds product in large drums containing liquids, where the Pallet is the parent LPN and the Drums on the pallet are all Child LPNs, when picks are performed the current process includes something similar to the following steps:
The pallet containing the drum is moved to a WIP Area.
The Drum is then removed from the pallet and taken to production for decanting.
After the needed amount of product is removed from the drum, the drum containing the remaining quantity then needs to be put back in storage, using a putaway request or possibly by other methods.
Since this ‘process’ involves an over pick from the location (selecting the entire pallet only to pick from it a portion of an item), a few additional ‘moves’ not necessarily on a pick suggestion and eventually movement of the remaining inventory back into a storage location for which the items need to be added back to the LPN, these operations are in need of this enhancement so they do not need to add the items back to a LPN. They need the ability to control if Pick Confirm removes the quantity of inventory from the LPN.
If they have a large number of picks on a Pallet, then the time it takes to remove the quantity from all the drums only to then need to add everything back to the LPN is significant.
If they can control this then instead of the Operator waiting over 1 min before all the picks are complete, the app should only take 15 seconds. This 45 second saving will be significant and over the course of a day could save over an hour per operator in picking time. Expanding this time by the number of operators and days/weeks/months/years, etc. indicates the large amount of labor time and expense that could be saved.
