Symptoms

When performing menu design on a fat client, "Insert New Task" option allows user to add an existing task. User thought they are adding a new task (e.g. task folder) and make changes to the task child folders and child tasks.

However, as this is an existing task, this causes all other places where this existing task folder and its sub folders and child tasks are being used to be affected too.

Steps to duplicate:

  1. Sign on to the fat client.
  2. Click Menu Design button to turn on Menu Design Mode.
  3. Navigate to a task view.
  4. Navigate to a menu task folder.
  5. Right Click on the task folder and select option "Insert New Task...".
  6. On Task Revisions form (P9000|W9000E), in the Task ID field, user is able to enter an existing Task ID. In this example, this Task ID is a folder task.
  7. Save Changes.
  8. User then makes task relationship changes (e.g adding or deleting task relationships) to the task's child folders and child tasks.

User thought these changes made are new relationships changes for only this particular menu but all other places where these task folder and its child tasks and folders were used are also affected.
