E1: 13: 17: P1702 Date and Time Out of Sequence WARNING Error ID 3206 Enh Request to Not Allow Update to Equipment Status (Doc ID 2891919.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2025

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Service Management - Version 9.2 and later
JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Capital Asset Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Per current design, the P1702 equipment status updates made out of sequence issues the following warning.

Date and Time Out of Sequence WARNING

This is a data entry out-of-sequence issue. System allows changing equipment master status and in the status change window, can enter dates in the past with no errors or warnings. System allows entry using dates out-of-sequence, but system generates a warning message, accordingly. Overriding a warning message and saving records out-of-sequence, can lead to mismatch between latest update in the equipment record and the current record in Status history.

This is as expected and is the intent in the warning message.

Steps:

  1. Locate an existing P1702 Equipment Record or Add a new record.
  2. Create an equipment status history by changing the equipment status thru a progression of valid status codes, vary date and time in chronological sequence.
  3. From P1702, enter a status change, but adjust the date and time to be prior to start date and time of current record, in order to insert a history record, previously omitted from history.
  4. System issues issues the Date and Time Out of Sequence WARNING, Error ID 3206:

Warning A form level error has occurred.
CAUSE. . . . . The date and time of this status change are out of sequence with existing status history records.
RESOLUTION . . Change the date and/or time so that the records do not overlap with existing status history records.

This is per design. With the current data dictionary error level set to a warning, system allows a user to correct equipment status records in the past, as needed. To change the Error ID 3206 data dictionary record error level to a level to be a hard error, could have a negative impact on other uses, so a change to the error level is not recommended.

Once the missed or skipped equipment status records are entered from P1702, using dates and times in the past, the current Equipment Status will reflect the last entry reported, not the status of the current history record. Therefore, care must be taken to enter a new current record, accordingly.

Enhancement Request

This enhancement request is to modify the logic for the out of sequence status change and to update the Warning Message Error ID 3206 text, accordingly.

This request is to change both the logic and the warning text such that the status change using a date in the past or out of sequence with existing history records will update or insert the status history records only and not update the current equipment status.

Client expects that only an Equipment Status change using a current date or a date that is greater than the effective date of the last history record will update both Equipment Master and Equipment Status history.
