E1: 12: The Accumulated Depreciation and Depreciation Expense Amounts are Added To instead of Corrected Each Time that User Defined Depreciation (R12855) Is Run In Final Mode for the Same Period (Doc ID 2905380.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 01, 2022

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Fixed Assets - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When User Defined Depreciation (R12855) is run for an asset for which the number of Life Months (ADLM) has been changed, instead of replacing/correcting the accumulated depreciation and depreciation expense amounts with the newly calculated depreciation amount, R12855 adds the new amounts to the old amounts. As a result, the depreciation amounts are incorrect.

This is even though the depreciation rule that is used for the asset does not use element 64 in its formulas (see FAQ 9 in the ‘General’ section of KM article E1: 12: R12855 General Depreciation FAQ (Doc ID 634862.1) for more on this).

And this is happening even with the fix for Bug 30511786: DEPRECIATION AMOUNT DOUBLES WHEN R12855 IS RUN IN FINAL A SECOND TIME applied to the environment. (For more information on the bug, see KM article E1: 12: The Amount of Depreciation Doubles Each Time the R12855 Is Run In Final Mode for the Same Period (Doc ID 2608157.1).)

  1. P1204: set up an asset as follows:
    1. Start Depreciation: 01/01/2022
  2. P0411: create a voucher for the purchase of the asset for 50,000.00 in January
  3. R09801: post the voucher to the F0911 and F0902
  4. Revise Unposted Entries (P12102): post the voucher entries to the F1202
  5. Run User Defined Depreciation (R12855) for February and March.
  6. P1204/P1202: change the number of life periods from 300 to 180.
  7. Run R12855 again for March.
  8. Cost Summary/Asset Ledger Inquiry (P122101/P12211): inquire on the asset and notice that there are now two records for March. However, the amount of the 2nd record is not the difference between the old and the new depreciation amount, but is the new depreciation amount itself. This causes the depreciation amount for March to be incorrect.
  9. Databrowser: get the records for the asset from the following tables:
    1. F1202: notice that the incorrect amounts are also on the records for the asset.
    2. F0911
