E1: 42: Functionality to Process Substitution Items When Processing Sales Orders in Batch Backorder Release (R42118) (Doc ID 2906477.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 23, 2022

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Sales Order Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The customer has substitute items setup for some items.  The customer also creates backorders during sales order entry (P4210) when quantity is not available to fill the order.

The customer would like to know if there is a way that the batch backorder release (R42118) could take into account that the item has a substitute and apply the substitute to the sales order.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Customer has items A and B setup in inventory.
  2. Item A has no inventory.
  3. Item B has 100 units available.
  4. Item B is a substitute for item A.
  5. In Sales Order Entry, P4210, the customer creates an order for item A with availability checking active. The item goes on backorder.
  6. The customer runs batch backorder release, R42118, to release the backorder. The customer would like the order to be filled with the available quantity of the substitute item.
