Symptoms
In the Vertex November 2022 Update, the following changes for Arizona State Income Tax Withholding were included:
- Increased the SUI wage base from $7,000.00 to $8,000.00.
- Revised withholding rates (see new rates below)
Note: Arizona has changed their tax rates, effective 1-1-23. Employees need to fill out a new A-4 and select a new tax rate. If the employee does not supply an updated A-4 by January 31, 2023, the employer must select 2% as the default rate on behalf of the employee.
Leg/Reg Enhancement request to have R0701730 updated with the new codes starting 1/1/2023:
- New - Alternate Calculation Code Rates for 1/1/2023
- 21 .5%
- 22 1%
- 23 1.5%
- 24 2% (default)
- 25 2.5%
- 26 3%
- 27 3.5%
- 28 No State A4 Filed (2%)
- 8 0% (same as prior)
- Old - Alternate Calculation Code Rates*
- 8 0%
- 9 1.3%
- 10 1.8%
- 11 2.7%
- 12 3.6%
- 13 4.2%
- 14 5.1%
- 19 No State A4 Filed
- 20 8%
*Note - Update from Vertex states the old alternate calculation code rates will calculate using their original percentage until the end of February 2023. Starting March 1st, 2023, the old codes will automatically default to 2%.
