E1: 39: Period Build (R39120) Incorrectly Sums Item Ledger (F4111) Records if Lines are Negative and Positive (Doc ID 2942009.1)

Symptoms

Period Build (R39120) incorrectly sums transactions and writes incorrect unit cost and extended cost values to the Temporary Period Build File for Stock Valuation (F39120). This occurs only when the Item Ledger (F4111) records being summed include one negative and one positive line.

Steps to Reproduce: 

  1. Create a new Item (ASV-07-LT) with Primary UOM = LT (Liter).
  2. Create the Item Branch Record in Branch 7940.
  3. Set the Item Cost (P4105) as 2.1481 with Cost Method 07 (Standard Cost) for Inventory and Purchasing.
  4. Using Item Pool Valuation Maintenance (P3904), add Advanced stock item ASV-07-LT with Valuation Method 04 (FIFO Valuation Detail By Branch).
  5. Enter a large negative PO as follows:
    1. Item = ASV-07-LT
    2. Quantity = -35,491.00
    3. Unit Cost = 6.1771/LT
    4. Extended Cost = -219,231.46
  6. Perform a PO Receipt (P4312) for the full negative quantity.
  7. Check Item Ledger (P4111)
    1. Extended Cost for Inventory Receipt (OV) = -219,231.46
    2. Standard Cost Variance for Receipt (OV) = +142,993.24
    3. Sum of the two records = -76,238.22
  8. Period Detail Work File (F39120W) entries match Item Ledger (F4111).
  9. Run the Period Build (R39120) Job with data selection on the Branch Plant 7940.
  10. Report shows Job completed successfully.
  11. Stock Valuation Extraction (R39600) Job incorrectly sums the two Item Ledger (F4111) records when creating the Temporary Period Build File for Stock Valuation (F39120).
    1. Extended Cost Price = -362,221.78 when it should be -76,238.22.
    2. Unit Cost = 10.2060 when it should be 2.1481.

Item Ledger (P4111)
     a. Extended Cost for Inventory Receipt (OV) = -219,231.46
     b. Standard Cost Variance for Receipt (OV) = +142,993.24
     c. Sum of the two records = -76,238.22
