E1: 30A: Cost Simulation (R30812) Does not Properly Convert Co/by Product Routing Costs That Have Primary Unit of Measure Different From Production Unit of Measure (Doc ID 2942547.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 07, 2024

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a process item has a primary and production unit of measure in KG and produces a co-product with a primary unit of measure of LB, Cost Simulation (R30812) will not convert the routing costs (e.g., B1, B3) to the primary unit of measure on the co-product.

Steps
1. Create a process item (stocking type R) with a primary and production unit of measure = KG (P4101/P41026).
2. Create an ingredient item (stocking type P) with a primary and component unit of measure = KG.
3. Create a co-product item (stocking type M) with primary unit of measure = LB and secondary, production and component unit of measure = KG.
4. For all items, set the Item Unit of Measure Conversion to 1 KG = 2.20462 LB (P4101 form exit).
5. Create the Process Routing (P3003) with two operations that have labor and machine hours.
6. Use the row exit in the Process Routing to link the ingredient to the first operation.
7. Use the row exit in the Process Routing to link the co-product to the second operation. Note that the output quantity for this item is in KG unit of measure.
8. Update the Co/By-Products Planning Table (P3404) for the Co-product where the Process has the Cost % = 100.
9. Simulate Costs (R30812) on the process item with the Calculate Co/By-Products set to 1.
10. Inquire on the process item in Cost Components (P30026). Notice that costs are correct and in unit of measure = KG.
11. Inquire on the co-product in Cost Components (P30026). Notice that Cost Simulation converted the A1 Cost Type to the LB unit of measure, however the B1 and B3 Cost Types were not converted.
