E1: 41: Announcing: Repost - Update On Hand Inventory (R41995) Enhancement (Doc ID 2973692.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 06, 2024

Applies to:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Inventory Management - Version 9.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

Overview:

The Item Balance / Ledger Integrity Report (R41544) is used by JD Edwards customers to identify integrity variances between the Quantity On-Hand in the Item Location Table (F41021) and the Item Ledger (F4111) table.

In many cases, the cause of these variances can only be attributed to corrupted data in the Item Location Quantity On-Hand field (F41021.PQOH) which is a running balance of all the transactions added to and subtracted from an inventory location and/or lot. Since all transaction details are written to the Item Ledger (F4111) while the Item Balance Quantity On-Hand is a running total of all transactions done to date, the Item Ledger (F4111) is assumed to be the source of truth.

Except for rare situations, we usually cannot explain how data was corrupted after the fact, to preclude recurrence. Partial updates or corrupted data may occur because of an unpredictable event that terminates the application prematurely.

Until recently, other than using SQL, there has not a way to fix the data so the Quantity On-Hand in the Item Location Table (F41021.PQOH) matches the sum of the Transaction Quantities in the Item Ledger (F4111.TRQT) to ensure inventory is accurate and in balance.

To avoid the need to use SQL to fix corrupted values, Enhancement Request 32520562 - NEW PROGRAM TO REPOST ON-HAND INVENTORY was recently implemented in 9.2 Release 23.

This enhancement introduces a new program, “Repost - Update On Hand Inventory” (R41995) which changes the Item Location Quantity on Hand (F41021.PQOH) to match the sum of the transaction quantities in the Item Ledger (F4111.TRQT) individual locations without creating records in the Item Ledger (F4111) and General Ledger (F0911) again.

Purpose:

Use the “Repost - Update On-Hand Inventory” report (R41995) to calculate and repost the Quantity On-Hand value in the Item Location table (F41021). The “Repost - Update On-Hand Inventory” report sums up the transaction quantities in the Item Ledger table (F4111) or calculates the quantity from both the Item Ledger table (F4111) Item ASOF table (F41112) and updates the Item Location Quantity On Hand value (F41021).
